Lithography A lithograph is made by drawing or painting directly
on to a lithographic stone with a
greasy ink or pencil.
A new stone has to be drawn up in black ink for each
individual
colour printed. Craig Flannagan usually makes
his prints with 4 or 5 stones, some printed
in 2 or 3 colours. Only one colour can be printed at any time.
The process of making an
edition of lithographies usually takes a week with the assistance of
professional
printmakers. The artist prefers this printmaking tecnique since it offers the freedom to work with many colours in a direct manner, one can
both draw and paint on the stone.
